Charles I (1600-1649) with M. de St Antoine
Artist: Anthony van Dyck (Flemish, 1599-1641)
Date: 1633
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Collection: The Royal Collection Trust, United Kingdom
Description
On his appointment as Principal Painter to Charles I in 1632, the Flemish artist Van Dyck - Ruben's most gifted follower - was required to specialise in portraiture. This is one of the chief paintings to result from his appointment, which revolutionised British painting and provided us with the enduring image of the Stuart court. With great fluency Van Dyck here portrays Charles I on horseback on an unprecedented scale, as ruler, warrior and knight, in the long tradition of antique and Renaissance equestrian monuments. The prominent display of the crowned royal arms and the triumphal arch framing the armed King reinforce his image as ruler of Great Britain, while the King's refined features, loose hair and the sash of the Order of the Garter worn over his armour convey the impression of a chivalrous knight. Van Dyck may have designed the painting for its first position at the end of the Gallery at St James's Palace, where its theatrical effect impressed visitors. Both artist and patron admired and collected works by Titian, but a more direct influence was Rubens's 1603 portrait of the Duke of Lerma (Madrid, Prado) which Charles I would have seen on his visit to Spain as Prince of Wales in 1623.
Skilled horsemanship was regarded as the epitome of virtu and here Pierre Antoine Bourdin, Seigneur de St Antoine, a master in the art of horsemanship, carries the King's helmet. Sent by Henry IV of France to James I with a present of six horses for Henry, Prince of Wales, in 1603, he remained in the service of the Prince and later of Charles I, as riding master and equerry. He looks up at the King, whose poise stabilises a scene filled with baroque movement.

"CAN YOU STOP POPPING FOR FIVE FUCKIN SECONDS WE'RE TRYING TO COOK DINNER HERE!"
Yells Izuminokami, holding a huge metal lid like a shield, at the pot of boiling oil frying some of their batter-coated squids for dinner.

did i tell yall abt how hikari brute forced the pillar climb. how this fucking moron watched caesar cleave through the oil, said 'fuck that shit', and instead coated her entire body in oil by pressing her head against the pillar to let it cascade over her body, hung on one hand at a time to cover her hands equally, charged her 'oil armor' for like two hours, and fucking climbed through it. Hikari 'Path of Most Resistance' Nakama.

Pollution Powers AU, what would be the moment where Stan and Angie tell each other how they love one another when their relationship goes to the next level?
Like, when they officially get together?
Hmm.
Well, I'm a sucker for a romantic moment under the stars and that was my first thought...
But then I remembered how Angie tells Stan his oil form is beautiful in the sun and that kickstarts his crush on her. So I think that their romantic, officially getting together moment happens in like, the middle of the day.
Angie's family wants her to spend the summer at the school because a) she's still struggling to control her powers and b) it hasn't been long enough for people back home to forget the height she was when she left, which would cause problems if she returned her actual height. Angie misses her family and misses her horse Daisy, but agrees to stay behind. Fiddleford, however, is given clearance to go home.
Fiddleford and the rest of the students who won't stay year-round leave the school for the summer. Stan, noticing Angie seeming blue, sneaks her off-campus, aka into the woods surrounding the school. They traipse through the woods, giggling to each other about how they're breaking the rules, and then they find a sunny clearing with like, a waterfall or something in it. They decide to take a break and sit by the waterfall. Angie asks Stan to change to his oil form, and when he does, she repeats that she thinks he's beautiful. Stan blurts out that he thinks she's beautiful. Angie blushes and goes to give Stan a peck on the cheek. But Stan turns to face her and they accidentally kiss...on the lips!
Angie's so shocked that she stumbles back into the waterfall. Stan rescues her and before he can get out an excuse or something vaguely resembling an apology, Angie leans in...and they kiss on the lips on purpose! They return to the school holding hands and their clothes soaking wet and Ford just rolls his eyes, glad that those two finally got their act together. He was getting sick of Stan moping around trying to impress Angie, and also sick of Angie's constant puppy dog eyes in Stan's general direction.
(When Ford asks how things went with Angie, Stan suddenly remembers that Angie's power grants her a poisonous saliva and starts freaking out.)

«Boston area - 5-7-76 - Ilsa, Harem Keeper of the Oil Shieks played the Boston area including Medford's Meadow Glen which had it with Cry Uncle and Relations.
The Three Houses Of Hell show including Last House on the Left was another ozoner must-see show in the area. Included in this set of screens was the Dedham and Starlite.
David F. Friedman's Johnny Firecloud was promoted with just the name in the Boston area with the other screen at the Meadow Glen showing it with Deep Thrust.
By that time, the visual ads for the Meadow Glen were replaced with word only blocks. The theaters which were connected to the Dedham had a better block that showed the Revere and VFW showing The Devil Within Her, Witchcraft '70. and Mark Of The Devil.»

Odysseus Recognises Achilles Amongst the Daughters of Lycomedes
Artist: Louis Gauffier (French, 1762–1801)
Date: 1801
Medium: OIl on Canvas
Collection: Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, Sweden
Description
The subject is taken from Ovid's Metamorphoses. Knowing her son was destined to die if he went to fight in the Trojan war, Thethis, a sea nymph, disguised Achilles as a woman and entrusted him to King Lycomedes, in whose palace on the isle of Scyros he lived among the king's daughters. Odysseus and other Greek chieftains were sent to fetch Achilles. They cunningly laid a heap of gifts before the girls - jewellery, clothes and other finery, but among them a sword, spear and shield. When a trumpet was sounded, Achilles instinctively snatched up the weapons and thus betrayed his identity.
